SVETI STEFAN

Once a small fishing village, the islet of Sveti Stefan was transformed into an island-hotel in the 1950s. Until the 1980s, it was a refuge for many movie stars such as Elizabeth Taylor or Sophia Loren. Since 2008, Sveti Stefan has belonged exclusively to the Aman Resorts hotel group. If the surroundings are restricted to hotel residents, it is however possible to access the area by booking a table in one of the restaurants. This tiny islet, which looks like a fortress, is connected to the continent by a very narrow strip of land. The scenery is quite like a postcard: a tangle of stone buildings with red roofs, a superb pink sandy beach, with the turquoise waters of the Adriatic in the background.

TIVAT

Located on a superb peninsula at the foot of Mont Vrmac, Tivat was once a saline production centre and a strategic naval base.
